Tottenham Hotspur’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, brushed off concerns over internal tensions within his team following their 4-2 defeat against Liverpool.

Despite late goals from Richarlison and Son Heung-min, Spurs fell short at Anfield, leaving their Champions League qualification hopes hanging by a thread.

During the match, tempers flared between Tottenham defenders Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal, prompting goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to intervene. However, Postecoglou downplayed the incident, stating that the players’ passion and frustration reflected their desire to address the team’s current predicament.

Acknowledging Tottenham’s disappointing form, with 11 losses in their last 25 league games and three consecutive away defeats, Postecoglou emphasized a sense of improvement in their performance against Liverpool compared to recent outings.

Despite conceding four goals in the opening hour, Postecoglou believed Tottenham showed glimpses of their true potential, particularly in their attacking play. While lamenting missed opportunities in the final third, he praised his team’s efforts to maintain their identity on the pitch.

Reflecting on the match, Postecoglou highlighted Liverpool‘s threat in front of goal and admitted to the difficulty of facing a formidable opponent. However, he remained optimistic about Tottenham’s overall performance, especially in the latter stages of the game where they displayed greater cohesion in attack.

Although disappointed with the result, Postecoglou found solace in Tottenham’s improved showing and expressed confidence in their ability to bounce back in the remaining fixtures. As they strive to secure European qualification, Postecoglou urged his team to build on the positives from their performance against Liverpool.

With their fate now reliant on other results and their own performances in the closing stages of the season, Tottenham faces a crucial period as they seek to salvage their Champions League aspirations.
