Wrexham FC has expanded its preseason “Wrex Coast Tour” with fixtures against Bournemouth and Vancouver Whitecaps, the club announced Thursday.
Alongside the previously confirmed match against Chelsea on July 24 in Santa Clara, California, Wrexham will now face Bournemouth on July 20 in Santa Barbara and the Whitecaps in Vancouver on July 27.
The addition of these fixtures marks an exciting opportunity for Wrexham as they prepare for their debut season in League One, England’s third tier. Following their remarkable success, securing a second consecutive promotion by defeating Forest Green 6-0 on April 13, Wrexham is eager to continue their momentum into the upcoming campaign.
Phil Parkinson, Wrexham’s manager, expressed his enthusiasm for the preseason tour, stating, “After another successful campaign, we’re delighted to be heading to the West Coast again this summer, and we’re also looking forward to venturing up to Vancouver and spreading the Club’s footprint into Canada.”
Wrexham, under the ownership of Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, is set to conclude their current season with a match against League Two champions Stockport County on Saturday. The tour presents an opportunity for the club to broaden its international presence and engage with fans across different continents.
The preseason fixtures against Bournemouth and Vancouver Whitecaps will provide valuable preparation for Wrexham as they aim to make a mark in League One and continue their upward trajectory in English football. With anticipation building for their North American tour, Wrexham is poised to embark on an exciting journey that extends their reach beyond the shores of the United Kingdom.
