The Toffees escaped defeat with a last-minute equalizer from Jarred Branthwaite.
Everton held Tottenham to a 2-2 draw in their Premier League game on Saturday. The Toffees scored two equalizers to salvage a point at Goodison Park.
What happened?
Tottenham’s fantastic start to the game led to their first goal in the fourth minute. Richarlison put the visitors ahead by converting an inch-perfect cutback from Destiny Udogie.
Everton came back into the game through Jack Harrison’s goal just before the half-hour mark, but it took the Spurs only ten minutes to restore their lead. Richarlison completed his brace with a stunning finish from the edge of the box to make it 2-1 for the visitors.
Everton’s efforts to score an equalizer early in the second half failed as they lacked enough attacking edge to create clear-cut changes. But their increasing pressure on Tottenham’s backline finally paid off when Jarred Branthwaite’s header found the back of Tottenham’s net in the 94th minute.
Everton vs Tottenham: Man of the Match
Richarlison deserves the Man of the Match title for his brilliant first-half display against Everton. The Brazil international scored twice while constantly rushing back to help with defensive duties.
