The Liverpool manager spoke out on the injury that Mohamed Salah suffered during an Africa Cup of Nations game with Egypt.

Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Liverpool are still waiting to discover how serious Mohamed Salah’s injury is.

During Egypt’s 2-2 draw against Ghana on Thursday, Salah limped off toward the end of the first half. The forward has a suspected hamstring injury, although this has not been confirmed.

“We don’t know anything,” Klopp said of Salah’s injury during a press conference on Friday.

“I spoke with him last night on how it is. Further assessment is what they are doing now.

“It was a moment of shock. You could see he was hit with something high-intensity.

“You have these kinds of injuries and we know how rarely he needs to go off. So it’s definitely something. So we will see. But I don’t know any information more.”

Klopp added that Liverpool will decide whether to send their medical staff to check Salah based on the diagnosis.

Egypt coach Rui Vitoria said it was too early to tell how serious Salah’s injury is during his post-match press conference on Thursday. He did, though, say he thinks it is ‘not dangerous’.

The 31-year-old attacker had a hand in both of Egypt’s goals in their AFCON opener against Mozambique, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Victoria’s side will return to action on Monday to play Cape Verde in their final Group B game. Meanwhile, Liverpool will hit the road to play Bournemouth in the Premier League this Sunday.
