The English youngster has been one of Chelsea’s best performers since his arrival in the summer.
Cole Palmer “never” intended to leave Manchester City as he preferred to secure a loan move out of Etihad.
Chelsea secured Palmer’s services for around £42.5m as City’s former academy star completed the first transfer of his career.
The move turned out to be better than several more expensive deals that Chelsea has so far completed under Todd Boehly’s ownership. Palmer has been arguably Chelsea’s best player so far this season, securing a regular spot in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting lineup.
However, Palmer admits that he initially looked for a loan move away from City and not a permanent one.
“My thing was to never leave City,” Palmer told Sky Sports. “That was not my intention. I wanted to go on loan for a year, come back and be ready for the first team.
“But they said I couldn’t go on loan, either stay or you get sold. So then, Chelsea rang me.
“I said I wanted to go to Chelsea and I’m really happy to be here. I’m very glad I made the decision to come here.”
Palmer has made 17 Premier League appearances for the Blues, registering eight goals and four assists.
