One day after sacking Steve Cooper, Nottingham Forest have announced the next manager to lead the team in the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest have hired Nuno Espirito Santo as their new manager, replacing Steve Cooper.

On Tuesday, Forest fired Cooper after a poor run of five losses in six games left the club 17th in the Premier League table. The decision ended a memorable two-year partnership at City Ground.

Nuno, who previously coached Wolves and Tottenham in England, has replaced Cooper. Forest confirmed the Portuguese coach’s appointment on Wednesday. He has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract. His first game will be this Saturday in a home league match against Bournemouth.

Nuno joins Forest after losing his job at Al-Ittihad in November, despite leading the club to the Saudi Pro League title last season.

Before moving to Saudi Arabia, Nuno coached in England between 2017 and 2021. The 49-year-old led Wolves to promotion from the Championship in his first season. He later secured back-to-back seventh-placed finishes in the Premier League and a quarter-final appearance in the Europa League.

A short spell at Tottenham followed in 2021, before Nuno headed to the Middle East in 2022.

Forest will hope their new manager can spearhead a change in fortunes, as they’re only five points clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone.
