The Red Devils are eager to add another forward to their ranks this winter.
Manchester United are eyeing a move for Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy amid interest from Borussia Dortmund.
United completed a £72m move to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta in the summer. However, the Danish star’s underwhelming start at the club has already intensified reports about United’s possible move for a new striker.
According to Bild, Guirassy’s release clause allows him to leave Stuttgart for around £15.2m this January. The Guinean striker has reportedly rejected the club’s offer to remove the clause.
Since completing a summer move from Rennes, Guirassy has enjoyed incredible form in the Bundesliga, scoring 16 goals in 12 matches. The 27-year-old’s performances have attracted interest from several clubs, with Dortmund appearing as the front-runners to sign him. In addition to United, Newcastle are also interested in bringing the player to the Premier League.
How bad has Hojlund been?
Hojlund’s start at United has been disappointing by every metric. The Dane has failed to register a goal contribution in the Premier League while struggling to find his place in United’s attacking line.
One of Hojlund’s worst records is that of his attempted shots. The 20-year-old has made only 16 shots in his 12 Premier League appearances so far this season.
Hojlund’s performance against Bayern Munich on Tuesday triggered criticism from United’s former assistant manager Rene Meulensteen who told talkSPORT: “Everyone knows if United got Harry Kane, you bring 25 to 30 goals into your team. Simple.
“They went for Hojlund. I thought he was way short against those Bayern defenders. He never really got a kick.”
