Liverpool: Salah receives "loud applause" for reaching legendary milestone

The Egyptian superstar scored for the Reds as they snatched a crucial comeback at Selhurst Park.

Liverpool players applauded Mohamed Salah for scoring his 200th goal for the club on Saturday.

The Reds fell behind when Jean-Philippe Mateta converted a penalty in the 57th minute. However, Salah equalized with a deflected finish inside the box 20 minutes later.

The goal marked Salah’s 200th goal for Liverpool, putting him just 28 goals away from Billy Liddell, who holds the fourth position as the club’s all-time top scorer. It was also the Egypt international’s 150th goal in the Premier League, levelling him with Michael Owen on the tenth spot of the Premier League’s all-time goalscoring charts.

Liverpool ultimately completed their comeback with a spectacular finish from Harvey Elliot later, reaching the top of the EPL table. Speaking after the match, Klopp said: “We carried the shirt with us in the dressing room with “200” on it for him for two weeks but we gave it to him today. A loud, loud applause from the boys.”

Salah reacted to reaching the 200th-goal milestone in an interview with TNT Sports, saying: “I think the most important thing is that we won the game.

“It was really tough today but, of course, when you win and score goals, it’s a great feeling. I’m happy for the record and also happy for the team to win the game.”
