The Blues have got off to a sluggish start under Mauricio Pochettino and are planning to bring in reinforcements to aid their cause.
Signing a striker is an “absolute priority” for Chelsea in January, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
In the summer, Chelsea signed one center-forward in Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal. They also welcomed four midfielders and one defender. Yet, most of the new signings have struggled to make an impact, with the club down in the bottom half of the Premier League.
So, with rumors linking Chelsea to stars like Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney, what’s around the corner at Stamford Bridge?
“For Chelsea to get a new striker is an absolute priority, but in January it’s not easy to find the right player,” Romano said on the Debrief podcast.
“We know they like talented young players. For sure they also like [Brentford striker] Ivan Toney, but let’s see how much they’re prepared to invest.
“Victor Osimhen is also appreciated but Napoli will push to keep him until at least the end of the season. So, a January move is complicated.”
Chelsea will be in action on Monday away to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
