Ajax’s disastrous run continues with a heavy defeat against their arch-rivals.
PSV Eindhoven defeated Ajax 5-2 in their Eredivisie match on Sunday. The hosts completed a crushing comeback to beat Ajax at Phillips Stadion.
What happened?
Having lost their four previous matches, Ajax were far from being the favourites to win the game. However, they found a surprisingly solid start to the match, getting ahead through Branco van den Boomen in the tenth minute.
Only ten minutes later, Hirving Lozano scored the equalizer for PSV. But Ajax restored their lead when Brian Brobbey made it 2-1 in the 40th minute.
The course of the game changed, however, as soon as the second half started. It took the hosts only four minutes to score their second equalizer through Luuk de Jong.
Ajax’s defensive collapse soon followed as they conceded two more goals in the span of only seven minutes. Hirving Lozano then put the icing on the cake for PSV when he completed his sensational hat-trick in the 72nd minute.
PSV vs Ajax: Man of the Match
Hirving Lozano made another brilliant display for PSV as they smashed Ajax 5-2. The Mexican forward scored a hat-trick while providing a number of key passes to his teammates throughout the game.
