The former Borussia Dortmund star is heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s handling of Manchester United star Jadon Sancho has been labelled “unfair” by former Premier League star Shaun Wright-Phillips. Sancho has been excluded from United’s matchday squad since last month, with conflicting explanations from the manager and the player himself.

Ten Hag claimed the decision was based on Sancho’s training performances, but the 23-year-old winger took to Instagram to refute the manager’s explanation, leading to his exclusion from the senior team ever since.

Reports now suggest that Sancho is keen on leaving the club in the January transfer window to revive his career elsewhere, potentially in the Saudi Pro League.

Wright-Phillips, speaking to Betway, expressed his belief that Sancho shouldn’t have to apologize and that the situation has been handled unfairly. The former England international also noted that other players haven’t been asked to apologize for similar situations.

“I think there are emotions in football, and he’s a man, and there’s also pride there. At some point, he’s got to say his piece,” Wright-Phillips said. “He’s been listening to everybody say he’s this or he’s not doing this, and he stayed quiet until a point where he felt like he had to say something.”

He added: “Sancho’s said what he’s said – he’s just defending himself. He’s been listening to everybody say he’s this, or he’s not doing this, or he’s coming in late, and he stayed quiet until a point where he felt like he had to say something.”

Sancho’s situation at Manchester United remains uncertain ahead of the January transfer window, with the club reportedly being open to selling him mid-season.
