The Citizens are facing serious charges of Financial Fair Play breach.
Jamie Carragher has suggested that Manchester City could find themselves relegated to the National League North if the Premier League enforces the full extent of their 115 charges related to Financial Fair Play (FFP) violations.
Carragher’s comment came after news broke that Everton is facing a 12-point deduction as a severe punishment for a single breach of FFP rules. The contrast between the two cases has stirred controversy, as Manchester City is confronted with 115 alleged breaches of FFP rules.
In a tweet, Carragher wrote: “The PL (Premier League) want a 12 point deduction for Everton for one charge. Man City is going to end up in the National League North if the PL gets their way! Unbelievable the amount of stories that come out about Everton’s situation, but Man City’s, which has 114 more charges [and] has gone on for much longer, has gone very quiet.”
Both Manchester City and Everton have denied any wrongdoing and are committed to challenging potential sanctions.
Man City accusations include breaching rules related to providing accurate financial information, covering club revenue, sponsorship income, operating costs, player and manager remuneration, and failing to cooperate with the FFP investigation.
