Juventus edged out their opponents to claim a statement victory at San Siro.
Juventus defeated AC Milan 1-0 in their Serie A game on Sunday. A late goal from Manuel Locatelli sealed Juve’s victory as they edged closer to the top of the table.
What happened?
Milan started the game on the front foot and managed to stay in charge for most of the first period. The Rossoneri missed a golden chance to get ahead through Olivier Giroud as he was denied by Szczesny. In the 40th minute, however, a straight red card for Malick Thiaw completely changed the dynamic of the game.
Juventus pushed hard to score the match-winner against their ten-man opponents as soon as the second half started. But they had to wait until the 63rd minute to finally make it 1-0 through Locatelli. The Italy international’s shot was deflected off Rade Krunic before finding the back of the net.
Juve had a few chances to increase their lead in the extra time but settled for the narrow win.
