The Red Devils restarted their Premier League campaign with a victory.
Manchester United defeated Sheffield United 2-1 in their Premier League game on Saturday. The Red Devils snatched a narrow win at Bramall Lane.
What happened?
Sheffield’s start to the game was better than expected, while it took United some time to increase the pressure on the hosts. The Red Devils, however, finally managed to break the deadlock in the 28th minute.
Scott McTominay chested the ball down before guiding a low shot into the corner of the net from inside the box. However, it took Sheffield only six minutes to respond. Oli McBurnie converted a penalty to get the hosts back into the game.
Sheffield found a number of chances to complete their comeback at the beginning of the second period. But it was United who eventually scored the winner through Diogo Dalot in the 77th minute.
The Portuguese star latched onto Victor Lindelof’s pass behind the box before curling a stunning strike into the top-right corner of the net.
United found a few more chances to increase their lead in the final ten minutes but settled for the 2-1 victory.
