Hojlund has found a solid start to his Manchester United career this season.
Rasmus Hojlund aspires to reach Erling Haaland’s level as the world’s best striker.
Hojlund completed a £72m move to Manchester United in the summer, ending a successful spell in Serie A with Atalanta. After a rocky start in the Premier League, the Danish striker bounced back to score three goals in two Champions League for the Red Devils.
The 20-year-old’s performances has drawn comparisons to Haaland, who spent a dream debut campaign at Man City last season.
“I would rather not be compared to him. I think he is in a class of his own. I hope that one day I can reach his level, but right now, I think it is too early,” Hojlund told Danish broadcaster TV 2 Sport.
“Erling is in any case the world’s best striker, if not the world’s best footballer. I don’t really want to be compared to him, but I hope that one day I can be like him.”
Haaland has scored eight goals in eight Premier League matches for City so far this season. The treble winners sit third on the league table ahead of their upcoming match against Brighton on Saturday.
