The club’s director of football, Deco, has spoken of the possibility of more recruitments in the new year.
Barcelona’s financial situation will make it tough for the club to make any signings in January, according to Deco.
Barcelona have exceeded their €270 million spending cap set by LaLiga for the season. This restricts them to only utilize about 50% of the money they generate or save.
“It will be difficult to sign anyone in January,” Deco told Mundo Deportivo.
“We are always ready in case an opportunity presents itself, but I don’t think it will be possible.”
In the summer, Barcelona signed five players. Oriel Romeu was the only recruit that required a transfer fee. Barca paid Girona €3.4 million for the midfielder.
Ilkay Gundogan and Inigo Martinez arrived on free transfers, while Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo joined on season-long loan deals.
Barcelona also have an agreement in place to sign Vitor Roque from Athletico Paranaense. They hope to bring the 18-year-old forward to Europe in January, but a winter transfer is uncertain at this point.
