The Gunners are monitoring the market to sign a new striker.
Former Chelsea star Scott Minto believes Ivan Toney would be a “natural fit” for Arsenal as the January transfer window approaches.
Throughout the early part of the season, Arsenal has been linked with a move for Toney as they seek a formidable number nine. While Gabriel Jesus has shone since his arrival from Manchester City, and Eddie Nketiah has served as a capable backup, both have struggled to consistently find the back of the net.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Minto said of the Brentford striker: “He actually has it all. So, I’m really disappointed with what happened and he’s not been able to play.
“I’d love to see him in a Chelsea shirt, but he’s over 25, so it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.”
He added: “Anybody, Ivan Toney would improve. He might be that missing link for Arsenal so that seems the natural fit.”
According to Goal, securing Toney could cost Arsenal approximately £80 million. Currently serving an eight-month suspension for breaching FA gambling rules, Toney is set to return in January. The 27-year-old’s desire for a new challenge and Brentford’s recognition of the challenge of retaining their star forward further fuel transfer speculations.
