Real Madrid eyeing €20m for AC Milan star

The Blancos are keen to add a new defender to their ranks.

Real Madrid is making early moves for the summer transfer window in 2024, aiming to bolster their squad. While top targets like Kylian Mbappe and Alphonso Davies are on their radar, reports suggest the Spanish giants are also keen on strengthening their defence with a young centre-back.

Their attention has turned to AC Milan’s 22-year-old defender, Malick Thiaw, who is being closely watched by Real Madrid. According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid is willing to invest €20 million to secure Thiaw’s services next year.

Thiaw, originally from Schalke in Germany, joined AC Milan in the summer of 2022 and has established himself as a regular presence in the Rossoneri’s defence. Despite his contract with Milan running until 2027, Real Madrid appears prepared to meet the price tag for the promising centre-back.

Real Madrid has grappled with defensive injuries this season, particularly in the centre-back department. With Eder Militao sidelined due to an ACL injury and concerns over David Alaba‘s recurring fitness problems, the addition of a young centre-half like Thiaw could be a timely and welcome boost, especially with Nacho Fernandez’s contract expiring at the end of the season.

The Blancos will return to action with a La Liga clash against Sevilla after the international break.
