The Milan goalkeeper suffered an injury during his side’s Champions League clash against Newcastle.
AC Milan have reportedly received the test results on Mike Maignan’s injury.
The Rossoneri were held to a goalless draw in their Champions League opener against Newcastle on Tuesday. Maignan had to limp off the pitch in the 81st minute after suffering a flexor injury.
According to Sky Italia, the Frenchman underwent additional tests on Wednesday, which revealed the extent of his injury. Maignan will reportedly stay sidelined for Milan’s next two matches, missing games against Hellas Verona and Cagliari.
The 28-year-old is expected to make his return against Lazio on September 30. Until then, Marco Sportiello plays as Milan’s No.1 keeper. The Italian keeper made a total of 15 Serie appearances last season, conceding 21 goals and keeping two clean sheets.
Another Milan star, Ruben Loftus Cheek, also left the pitch with an injury against Newcastle. However, he is expected to return to his side’s team training before the match against Hellas Verona.
Following a humiliating derby defeat against Inter, Milan failed to bounce back in their display against Newcastle in the Champions League. Let’s see if Stefano Pioli’s side can regain their best form without having Maignan between the posts.
