As Liverpool get ready for more Premier League action, Darwin Nunez faces a race against time to recover.
Uruguay manager Marcelo Bielsa has given an update on Darwin Nunez’s fitness.
The 24-year-old came off at half-time in Uruguay’s World Cup qualifier against Ecuador. Cristian Olivera replaced him, as Uruguay fell to a 2-1 defeat, leaving the Sky Blue fourth in the South American qualification table.
“Darwin arrived with some muscular difficulties and this limited his actions,” Bielsa said of the substitution at the break.
“I thought it necessary to replace him because he worked too much trying to press and attack in the last game.”
Nunez had a hand in one of Uruguay’s goals during last week’s 3-1 win over Chile.
The striker has had an excellent start to his second season at Anfield. He has only started in one of Liverpool’s four Premier League games, yet he has contributed two goals and one assist for the Reds.
Klopp’s side will visit Wolves on Saturday for their first game back from the international break.
