The Red Devils will have to wait more for the striker to make his debut.
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has confirmed Rasmus Hojlund will miss his side’s upcoming match against Nottingham Forest.
Hojlund arrived on a £72m deal from Atalanta earlier this summer. But a back injury has delayed the striker’s debut at Old Trafford. Initially, there were hopes that Hojlund would be able to play for Man Utd against Forest this weekend.
But in his pre-match press conference, Ten Hag confirmed the 20-year-old is yet to regain full fitness. Hojlund has returned to United’s team training in recent days, preparing to return to the pitch against Arsenal on September 3.
Man Utd have been rocked with a series of injury blows in the first two weeks of the new campaign. Mason Mount won’t be back until after the international break, while Luke Shaw’s return is expected to “take longer,” according to Ten Hag.
Asked about Tyler Malacia’s fitness issue, the Dutchman added: “It will also take a few weeks before he will be back.
Definitely, we have the solutions in our squad to cope with that. We thought before the season about this scenario, it could happen, you hope to avoid. But if it happens you have to be ready for it.”
