The Hammers could lose another key midfielder this summer.
West Ham manager David Moyes has confirmed the club have received a formal offer from Manchester City for Lucas Paqueta.
The Brazilian star has been heavily linked with a move to Etihad in recent weeks. Widespread reports in English media claim the Citizens already have an agreement in place with Paqueta over a six-year contract.
However, West Ham are not planning to give up their key midfielder without a fight. The Hammers have rejected City’s first offer for the player, insisting on their higher valuation of him.
“We’ve had an offer from Manchester City, but at the moment it’s not anywhere near meeting our valuation,” he told reporters on Friday.
Since joining West Ham from Lyon last year, the Brazilian star has become a key player at the heart of their midfield line. Last season, he made 43 appearances for the London side across all competitions as they won the UEFA Conference League.
How much West Ham want for Paqueta?
Man City’s first bid for Paqueta was reported to be around £74m, with West Ham demanding around £95m for the midfielder.
After receiving a £105m fee for Declan Rice earlier this summer, the Hammers are open to cash in on another one of their key players.
