A minor injury will delay the new signing’s debut at Manchester United.
Manchester United have confirmed a delay in Rasmus Hojlund’s debut.
On Saturday, the Red Devils officially announced the signing of Hojlund from Atalanta. The Danish star arrived at Old Trafford on a £72m deal. But United will have to wait for a few more weeks to add him to their matchday squad.
According to Manchester Evening News, Hojlund had to undergo “extensive examinations” after a fitness issue was revealed in the first part of his medical at the club.
The Dane has reportedly suffered a minor fitness issue during his pre-season training with Atalanta. He is expected to miss Man Utd’s first two matches of the new Premier League campaign against Wolves and Tottenham.
However, Hojlund will be ready to make his debut in Man Utd’s home game against Nottingham Forest on August 26. Until then, the 20-year-old will continue his rehab process in the club’s Carrington training ground.
Hojlund is already excited by the prospect of playing at Old Trafford.
“It is no secret that I have been a fan of this great club since I was a small boy, and I dreamed of walking out at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player,” he told United’s official website after his unveiling.
Before starting the new Premier League campaign, United will face Athletic Bilbao in their last pre-season fixture on Sunday.
