The Spurs are keen to bolster their backline ahead of the next season.
Tottenham are reportedly yet to reach an agreement with Wolfsburg for Micky van de Ven.
Van de Ven has been the subject of weeks of negotiations between the two clubs, with Tottenham finally submitting an official offer on Wednesday.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham hoped to sign the Dutchman for a fixed fee of €40m fee plus €5m in add-ons.
However, Wolfsburg reportedly believe the add-on clauses are too hard to activate. The Bundesliga side might increase their asking price to €50m for the highly-rated centre-back in the coming days.
Van de Ven joined Wolfsburg from Dutch club FC Volendam in 2021. Since then, he has quickly established himself as one of the most promising centre-backs in the Bundesliga.
Last season, the 22-year-old made 33 league appearances for Wolfsburg as they finished eighth in the Bundesliga. He was also part of Netherlands’ squad in the U21 Euros earlier this summer. Van de Ven’s performances have caught the attention of Ange Postecoglou, who has reportedly scouted the youngster in the past.
Liverpool have also tried to sign the Wolfsburg starlet in the past and could return to the transfer race if Tottenham fail to complete a move in the coming days.
