The legendary former Arsenal manager made a prediction on the club’s prospects for the upcoming season following the record signing of Declan Rice.
Arsene Wenger, the former Arsenal manager, has predicted Premier League glory for the Gunners in the 2023/24 campaign.
Speaking at the Tour de France, Wenger endorsed the club’s signing of Declan Rice. The England international is the third summer signing after Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber. He signed a five-year contract after Arsenal agreed to pay West Ham a club-record £105 million transfer fee.
“They [Arsenal] have made good buys,” Wenger told Eurosport.
“They are players who are now mature, 23, 24, but still young so can stay together for a few years.”
Arsenal, who finished second in the Premier League last season, will face tough competition. Not only will Manchester City be gunning for another title, but Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea could be in the mix.
Yet, in a clear vote of confidence, Wenger backed the Gunners to end a 19-year wait for league glory.
“We will win the championship, it is as simple as that,” the Frenchman predicted.
“I have less doubts for Arsenal than the cycling today.”
Arsenal have headed out to the USA for a pre-season tour. They’ll first play the MLS All-Stars in a friendly at Audi Field, Washington, this Thursday.
