The French defender is seeking a move away from Allianz Arena this summer.
Lothar Matthaus has advised Bayern Munich to sell Lucas Hernandez this summer.
Hernandez became Bayern’s most expensive signing ever when he arrived from Atletico Madrid in 2019. An €80m transfer saw the World Cup winner become a key part of Bayern’s backline.
Despite his consistent performances, Hernandez has missed several crucial matches due to fitness problems in recent years.
Bayern are, nonetheless, willing to renew the 27-year-old’s current deal. But interest from Paris Saint-Germain has tempted Hernandez to consider a move away from the German giants.
“I’d sell him immediately. He obviously has no appreciation left towards the club,” Matthaus told Sky Germany when asked about Hernandez’s situation.
“It’s true he always showed mentality on the pitch, but he was also injured several times over months. As a player, you have to remember that and stay loyal.”
Bayern have intensified their efforts to sign Napoli’s Kim Min-Jae in recent weeks. The centre-back could replace Hernandez at the heart of Bayern’s backline.
However, the possible departure of Benjamin Pavard could force the Bavarians to add another defender to their ranks. Bayern are reportedly considering Kyle Walker for the right-back position, but Manchester City might still tie him down to a new contract.
