The Canadian defender has emerged as a transfer target for Real Madrid ahead of the next season.
Alphonso Davies’ agent has admitted his Real Madrid-linked client is in talks with Bayern Munich over a new contract.
Davies has developed into one of the best left-backs in Europe since joining the Bavarians from MLS in 2018. The Canada international is under contract until 2025 at Allianz Arena, but the club decided to renew his contract before the summer transfer window.
According to reports from the German media, negotiations with Hasan Salihamidzic were moving in the right direction before the sporting director was sacked by the club last month.
Davies’ agent, Nedal Huoseh, has now confirmed that Bayern are yet to initiate a new round of talks for his client’s contract extension.
“We were almost there I think, I was in Munich, and I woke up the next day… And I saw all the news, that they [Kahn and Salihamidzic] had been sacked,” Huoseh told Fabrizio Romano.
“I waited for a couple of extra days and nobody had reached out, so I jumped on a plane to Canada. Right now we haven’t made any decisions on anything, and he is part of the Bayern team. We can’t confirm anything, and we can’t deny anything.”
Real Madrid have shown interest in signing Davies ahead of the next season. But Huoseh says he is unaware of any negotiations between the Blancos and Bayern Munich.
“I’ve always been a big fan of Real Madrid, as a fan in general, you know 14 Champions Leagues. It makes you proud when you see someone you manage linked with Real Madrid,” the agent added.
“There is nothing concrete with any club, one club has to want to sell, another has to initiate talks, and then the player has to want to leave. We don’t know if those talks have happened between clubs, and where those discussions have gone.”
