The 2022-23 Premier League campaign ended with a few major changes on the table.
Manchester United claimed the Premier League’s third spot after beating Fulham 2-1 on the competition’s final day.
The Red Devils ended their impressive campaign under Erik ten Hag by reaching the next season’s Champions League.
Newcastle also booked a place in the elite competition after their 1-1 draw with Chelsea, who ended the season in the 12th spot on the table. Elsewhere in London, Arsenal crushed Wolves 5-0, redeeming their frustrating season with a brilliant final display.
As determined last weekend, Liverpool and Brighton qualified for the Europa League. The Reds ended the season with a thrilling 4-4 draw against Southampton, where Roberto Firmino scored in his final display for the club.
Aston Villa secured the only remaining European spot, reaching the UEFA Conference League after a 2-1 victory over Brighton.
Most of the top spots were already determined before the final day. But the relegation battle continued until the final whistle of the Sunday’s matches.
Which teams were relegated to Championship?
Southampton, who were already relegated to the Championship before the final day, held Liverpool to a draw at Anfield. Leeds United also suffered relegation after losing 4-1 against Tottenham on home soil.
The battle to secure the 17th spot was won by Everton, who escaped the relegation zone with a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth. Leicester City was, therefore, relegated to the Championship despite a 2-1 win against West Ham at the King Power Stadium.
Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton Town will replace Leicester, Southampton, and Leeds Utd in the Premier League next season.
