The Red Devils want to have a plan B in case De Gea doesn’t renew his contract.
Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Bento amid ongoing contract talks with David De Gea.
The Spanish goalkeeper has earned £375,000 per week at Old Trafford since signing a mega contract with the club back in 2019.
As De Gea edges closer to the expiration of his current deal, the club have intensified their efforts to tie him down to a new contract.
However, the two parties are yet to reach an agreement over reducing the 32-year-old’s wages. Late in March, a report from the Athletic claimed De Gea had already rejected the club’s first offer despite optimism around the negotiations.
Man Utd are now seemingly eyeing other options in case their No.1 keeper decides to leave as a free agent.
According to Torcedores, Brazilian keeper Bento has emerged as a possible replacement for De Gea.
The 23-year-old has established his place in Athletico Paranaense in recent seasons, making a total of 93 appearances for the club. The Brazilian star has also attracted interest from Barcelona, who continue their search for a backup keeper.
Another possible option for Man Utd is Porto’s Diogo Costa, who has kept 12 clean sheets in his 27 league appearances this season.
