The Senegalese star punched Sane in the face after Bayern’s defeat against Manchester City.
Bayern Munich have suspended Sadio Mane for their next Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim.
Mane came onto the pitch in the 70th minute of Bayern’s 3-0 defeat against Manchester City. About ten minutes later, the former Liverpool star engaged in a heated verbal argument with Leroy Sane.
Widespread reports in German media then claimed Mane punched Sane in the face as the argument spilt into the dressing room after the game.
The shocking incident forced the German giants to react with an official statement on Thursday.
“Sadio Mané, 31, will not be in the FC Bayern squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday,” Bayern’s statement reads.
“The reason is misconduct by Mané after FC Bayern’s Champions League game at Manchester City. In addition, Mané will receive a fine.”
Mane trained alongside the rest of the Bayern squad on Thursday, with the 31-year-old reportedly apologizing to his teammates.
Since joining the Bavarians last summer, Mane has failed to live up to expectations at Allianz Arena. Prior to Julian Nagelsmann’s surprise sacking earlier this season, reports emerged of an altercation between him and Mane in the dressing room.
Given his one-match ban, Mane will be back for his side’s second-leg match against Man City next Wednesday.
