The Nigerian striker has stayed out of action with a muscular injury in recent weeks.
Victor Osimhen will miss Napoli’s upcoming Champions League clash against AC Milan.
The Blues will travel to San Siro without their main striker as Osimhen continues his rehab process. An abductor muscle injury has kept the Nigeria international out of action since before the international break.
Napoli hoped to have Osimhen back in their squad for the crucial UCL match. However, Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed his side will play without their star striker.
“Victor is not in a position to play, unfortunately,” the Napoli president said (via La Repubblica).
“We hope to have him back as soon as possible on the 18th at the [Stadio Diego Armando] Maradona.”
Osimhen has been a cornerstone of Napoli’s attacking line this season, helping the club keep their spot at the top of the Serie A table. The 24-year-old has registered 25 goals across all competitions this season, including four strikes in the Champions League.
In Osimhen’s absence, Spalletti will most likely use the three-man attacking line of Giacomo Raspadori, Hirving Lozano, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The Blues will take on Milan in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash on Wednesday before returning to Serie A to face Verona three days later.
