The Denmark international has spent the last two months out injured with an ankle problem.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed Christian Eriksen’s return to squad training.
An ankle injury has left the 31-year-old midfielder sidelined since an FA Cup fourth-round tie against Reading in January, causing him to miss the club’s last 15 games.
He won’t be available for Wednesday’s home match against former side Brentford, but is nearing his return.
“Not for tomorrow but he’s returning on the pitch,” Ten Hag said about Eriksen in a pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
“He’s returning into team training today, so we have to see now how quickly he can make the progress.”
What about the other missing Man Utd stars?
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is back in training after an illness forced the right-back to miss Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Newcastle. He, along with Fred and Anthony Martial, is in contention to return to the line-up.
Midfielder Casemiro will serve the third of his four-game ban on Wednesday. Alejandro Garnacho, Donny van de Beek, and Tom Heaton all remain sidelined for United.
Ten Hag’s side go into the showdown with Brentford as the clear favorites. Even a point at Old Trafford would be enough to move the fifth-placed hosts back into the Premier League’s top four.
