The Croatian goalkeeper has emerged as a possible replacement for Manuel Neuer.

Oliver Kahn has revealed Bayern Munich are not eyeing a move for Dominik Livakovic as Manuel Neuer’s replacement.

Neuer broke his leg during the holidays, which rules him out for the rest of the season. It is a massive injury blow to Bayern, who are preparing for a crucial Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.

Livakovic has spent a wonderful World Cup campaign with Croatia so far. His performance was crucial to Croatia’s shock victory over Brazil last week.

But Kahn says Bayern are not keen to add the Dinamo Zagreb star to their ranks.

“The man who stopped Brazil will always be a hero to me,” Kahn said. “Livakovic is worthy of praise. Such a goalkeeper must play at a top club.

“I have no doubt that this will be the case in the new season, but at the same time, he is not within the scope of our interests.”

Another option for Bayern is to bring back Alexander Nubel from his loan deal at Monaco. However, the Bavarians need to reach an agreement with the Ligue 1 side, as Nubel’s current deal runs until June.

Kahn added: “We’ve lost our goalkeeper before the end of the season.

“It’s terrible because he is one of the best in the world. It’s a very serious loss for the team.

“We believe that the recovery will go well and his return too, but for now, we have to solve the problem of a replacement. This is temporary. Manuel will be back.”
