Chelsea award young defender with a new contract

The Premier League giants have tied down the future of Trevoh Chalobah until at least 2028.

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has signed a new five-and-a-year contract at the club.

The 23-year-old’s new deal ties him down at Stamford Bridge until June 2028 at the earliest, with a ‘club option’ to extend the contract to 2029 also included as part of the agreement.

“I’m over the moon to sign this contract,” Chalobah told the club’s media.

“It’s been an honor every time I put the shirt on. I want to give my all and do anything for this club.

“As everyone knows, I’ve been here from a young age, and to continue here is every kid’s dream. Whenever I get the chance, I’ll give my all for the club and look for the future ahead.”

Chalobah has been part of the Chelsea setup since the age of nine.

The former England U-21 international is a Cobham graduate who has progressed from the youth ranks to the first team. He has even become an undisputed starter under Graham Potter this season. In fact, the new Blues manager has started him in 12 of his first 14 games at the club.

Chelsea return to competitive action on December 27 for a Premier League match against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.
