Let’s take a look at the player ratings from the 2022 FIFA World Cup match between Group F rivals Morocco and Croatia at the Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar.
The spoils were shared between Morocco and Croatia at the Al Bayt Stadium as the two sides played out a 0-0 draw in their Group F opener of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Lack of edge in attack costs both sides
The tell-tale signs were there from the first whistle. Neither of the two sides really stood out and lacked the quality in the final third to finish the job. In fact, Morocco and Croatia had just two shots on target each.
However, while the scoreline finished goalless, the game itself was fast-paced and intense after a slow start. Croatia had the best chances in the first half. Nikola Vlasic had an effort saved by Morocco keeper Bono. Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic also came close to scoring, but the 2018 World Cup finalists simply couldn’t find a way through.
Morocco, meanwhile, came close to scoring in the second half, only for Dominik Livakovic to push away Noussair Mazraoui’s header. The Croatia keeper later stopped a powerful long-rage hit from Achraf Hakimi to ensure both sides left the Al Bayt Stadium with a point each.
What’s up next for Morocco and Croatia?
Both teams return to action on Sunday. Morocco will visit Belgium at the Al Thumama Stadium for a 14:00 (CET) kick-off, while Croatia will play Canada three hours later at 17:00 (CET) at the Khalifa International Stadium.
