The Swede forward has claimed Guardiola gets jealous of his own players.
Pep Guardiola has offered a sarcastic response to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s recent comments about his ego.
In an interview earlier this week, Zlatan praised Erling Haaland but said Guardiola might sabotage his development.
“It depends on Guardiola’s ego, whether he lets him become bigger than he is or not,” the Swede said. “Why didn’t he allow me to improve? Because it didn’t just happen to me, but to many others.”
During a pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester City‘s match against Fulham, Guardiola responded to Zlatan’s remarks.
“He is right, he is completely right,” Guardiola sarcastically told reporters. “In this club, in this team, my ego is beyond every other person, every player.
“I don’t like it when Erling scores three goals, and all the highlight is for him. I am so jealous! Honestly, so jealous! I said ‘Erling, please no more goals, otherwise the newspapers won’t talk about me, and just about me’. He is right, he knows me perfectly. He can write another book.”
Zlatan worked under Guardiola for a single season at Barca before joining Milan in 2010.
The “book” reference is connected to Zlatan’s autobiography, in which he heavily criticized Pep for his management during that period.
