The Hollywood star says he supports ‘the pride of Cheshire’.
Dwayne Johnson, known as “The Rock”, has revealed he is a Liverpool fan. However, his comments have convinced some fans that he might have mistaken the Merseyside club for another team.
While promoting his latest film, Black Adam, Johnson was asked by talkSPORT about his favourite football club.
The former WWE champion responded: “Do I support a team? Yes. The pride of Cheshire.”
The interviewer replied: “Liverpool?”
Johnson said: “Yes, Liverpool.”
The interview has confused Liverpool fans as the Reds are based in Merseyside and not Cheshire.
Back in 2011, the Rock became Macclesfield’s most famous supporter by revealing his love for the club in a tweet.
“Macclesfield is my team. The pride of Cheshire,” Johnson wrote on Twitter.
The Rock had previously spoken about his love for Cheshire, telling Soccer AM: “Do I have a message for my people of Macclesfield? Yeah the message is always I thank them so much for their love and support and every time I go back there the amount of love I get really moves me!” he said.
“We’re the pride of Cheshire, but I think we’ve lost our last five games in a row.”
