The Blues are seven points off the top of the table after a goalless derby draw against Brentford.
Gianfranco Zola has warned Arsenal and Manchester City to not discount a title challenge from Chelsea this season.
While Chelsea trail Premier League leaders Arsenal by seven points, the Blues are just three behind Manchester City. Fortunes have also improved since Graham Potter’s appointment. In seven games under the new manager, they’ve collected five wins and two draws.
Wednesday’s 0-0 stalemate at Brentford ended a five-match winning run from the west London club.
“It’s still possible,” Zola, who scored 80 goals in 311 games for Chelsea, told Amazon Prime about a title bid.
“Chelsea is a very good team and has a big squad and they can be competitive in the Champions League and even in the Premier League.”
The former Blues striker and assistant coach added: “I said before the game you cannot rule out a team like Chelsea from the title race.
“I mean there are a lot of difficult games for the top teams, but Chelsea will be there, obviously they will have to make another step forward to raise the quality but they will be there.”
Chelsea next play host to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday for another Premier League match.
