The former Arsenal star believes Haaland needs’ service’ from his Man City teammates to shine.

Erling Haaland wouldn’t be able to repeat his success in a weaker team than Manchester City, according to Paul Merson.

The Norwegian star has broken record after record since joining the Citizens this season.

Having scored 15 goals in ten league appearances, Haaland might be City’s wild card in their title race with Arsenal.

Despite Haaland’s incredible stats at Borussia Dortmund, Merson believes the Norwegian is praised more than he deserves.

In his Sky Sports column, the former Arsenal forward wrote: “He needs the service.

“Everyone is going on about how great and super he is and how the movement is great and how powerful he is.

“But if he’s not getting the ball on a sixpence, it doesn’t matter how good your movement is, he’s not getting the ball.

“He would not score 60 goals in League Two, and I was a manager there with Walsall.”

Haaland has quickly established himself as a crucial part of Pep Guardiola’s attacking line at City.

Having formed a successful duo with Phil Foden, the Norwegian hopes to inspire City to their first Champions League title. He will face his former side again when the Citizens travel to Germany to face Dortmund next Tuesday.
