The Catalans missed a chance to claim La Liga’s top spot by beating Real Madrid.
Xavi Hernandez believes Barcelona has enough quality to reach their main goal of winning a title this season.
The Spaniard replaced another club legend, Ronald Koeman, last winter, starting an extensive rebuild project at the club.
Barca went on to sign seven new players this summer, reinforcing several weak points in their squad. However, their poor results in the Champions League have drawn heavy criticism toward Xavi.
Following a frustrating home draw against Inter last week, the Catalans hoped to bounce back by winning the Clasico.
However, their 3-1 defeat only saw Xavi come under more pressure. The 42-year-old has now admitted he might lose his job if the Catalans fail to win a title this season.
“Yes, that does not change,” he told the press. “I reiterate it. The objective, with the squad, with these players, is to win titles. We have to win titles.”
The Barcelona manager added: “I think we have built a team to win titles.
“I still have all the enthusiasm in the world, despite the fact that there has been a lot of criticism this week. Everyone is encouraging me. My mobile phone [messages] look like a relative has died.
“If I don’t make it, there will be consequences, but I’m calm. I think we have the squad to win titles. If we don’t win them, another coach will come in to try.”
