The Nerazzurri have found a slow start to the new Serie A season.

Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti has insisted the club continue their project under Simone Inzaghi with ‘confidence’.

The Nerazzurri lost a close title race to AC Milan in Inzaghi’s first season as their manager. The new campaign hasn’t started great either.

Inter sit seventh on the Serie A table, with a 3-1 defeat against Udinese being their most recent setback.

“There has always been confidence in Inzaghi, the merits are never of just one person,” Zanetti told Tuttomercato.

“There is a group that has very clear objectives and we are all going in the same direction.”

The club legend added: “We must be a resilient, humble team, and then it will depend on our ability to be protagonists because I am convinced that there are the conditions to be able to do so.”

Inter have struggled for consistency this season, losing right after each victory this season.

The Nerazzurri have started the new campaign on the back of a relatively busy transfer window. Joaquin Correa, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Francesco Acerbi joined Inter on permanent deals, while Romelu Lukaku, Kristjan Asllani, and Raoul Bellanova arrived on loan moves.

Inzaghi’s side return to action this weekend as they host Roma on Saturday.
