Playing alongside CR7 is every playmaker’s dream and De Bruyne is not an exception.

Kevin De Bruyne believes he would make a more productive partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo than Lionel Messi.

The Belgian star has established himself among the top playmakers in the world. The Belgian star admits he would prefer to assist a world-class striker than forming a midfield duo with the Argentine icon.

“I would probably say Ronaldo because he’s more of a typical striker,” the Belgium international explained. “Messi is still more of a playmaker.

“I am a playmaker, you can give me a striker.”

De Bruyne’s rise to prominence at Manchester City have drawn comparisons between him and Lionel Messi lately.

After a fantastic display against Bournemouth last month, former Premier League striker Tony Cascarino explained the Belgian’s role in City’s lineup.

“De Bruyne was at his best, his goal was terrific,” said former Premier League striker Tony Cascarino

“City are a team that’s going to pull you to shreds. Kevin De Bruyne is now the Lionel Messi of what Pep [Guardiola] had at Barcelona.

“He will just take the ball everywhere and use it. He’s pivotal to them.”

De Brunyne’s role as a playmaker has out shadowed his impressive goalscoring qualities. The 31-year-old scored 19 goals across all competitions for the Citizens last season while registering 19 assists.
