The Portuguese superstar has received criticism amid his uncertain transfer situation.
Former Manchester United star Paul Ince has called on Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Old Trafford before the transfer window deadline.
Ronaldo stayed on the bench as Man Utd claimed their first victory of the new season against Liverpool on Monday.
According to widespread reports in English media, Ronaldo has asked Man Utd to allow his departure earlier this summer. However, the Red Devils are yet to receive a formal bid for the 37-year-old.
“Ronaldo has to leave Man United. If he was in the United dressing room when I was playing with the likes of Roy Keane and Steve Bruce, we wouldn’t be putting up with him and he wouldn’t be getting away with anything,” Ince told BoyleSports Premier League.
“Leaving Ronaldo out of the starting 11 (against Liverpool) was so important, because it shows people that there can be life without Ronaldo.
“He’s been a distraction for everyone at Man United. You wouldn’t see Lionel Messi acting the way he has at times.”
Borussia Dortmund were the latest club to join the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Atletico Madrid in dismissing transfer links with Ronaldo.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has revealed he would clarify his transfer situation in an upcoming interview.
