The Portuguese forward has signed a new long-term deal at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has expressed his excitement over Diogo Jota’s new contract at the club.

Jota has signed a new five-year deal at the club, which keeps him at Anfield until 2027.

Following the departures of Sadio Mane and Divock Origi earlier this summer, Liverpool have extended the contract of another one of their key attackers.

The new deal comes after the club signed a new deal with Mohamed Salah and added Darwin Nunez to their ranks.

“Brilliant, brilliant news,” Klopp told Liverpool’s official website.

“His qualities are obvious. He scores goals – not a bad quality – he works unbelievably hard for the team, his pressing and counter-pressing are on an unbelievable level, he can play in all of our attacking roles and he has an incredible attitude. Not a bad package. Not bad at all.”

Since joining the Reds in September 2020, Jota has scored 34 goals and provided nine assists in his 85 appearances across all competitions.

The former Wolves star will face more competition alongside the likes of Nunez, Salah, Roberto Firmino and Luis Dias this season.

However, Klopp highlights the 25-year-old’s ability to play on the wings as a key aspect of his play.

The German boss added: “As a striker who can play on the wing, he gives us so many options and since he came to Liverpool he has improved so much.

“I have said before that Diogo is the player we hoped he would be but also a little bit better, so long may this continue.”
