A promising display from the Red Devils kick-started their string of pre-season friendlies.

The Red Devils defeated Liverpool 4-0 in a friendly game on Tuesday.

Playing their first match under Erik ten Hag, United claimed a comfortable win over their arch-rivals in Thailand.

The two sides started the game with most of their usual starters. However, the likes of Harvey Elliot and Tyler Morton were in Reds’ lineup.

United found a better start to the game, putting their opponents under pressure from both flanks. Following a poor clearance inside Liverpool’s box, Jadon Sancho opened the scoring for United with a precise low shot.

Ten Hag’s side continued attacking and doubled their lead through Fred’s brilliant cheap shot from behind the box. Liverpool made several changes to their lineups after the half-hour mark, with United still dominating the game.

Anthony Martial added his name to the scoreline to make it 3-0 for the Red Devils in the 33rd minute. Ten Hag then substituted his entire lineup after the half-time whistle, with the likes of Charlie Savage and Zidane Iqbal coming in.

Liverpool were much improved in the second half but couldn’t convert any of their four shots on target. United, however, managed to score their fourth goal of the night through Facundo Pellistri in the 76th minute.

The Uruguayan youngster converted an assist from Abdou Diallo inside the box to seal United’s 4-0 win over their arch-rivals.

After an encouraging win in their first game under Ten Hag, United must now prepare to meet Melbourne Victory on Friday.
