The Reds are planning to extend the contract of some of their key players after finally renewing Mohamed Salah’s deal.
Liverpool have decided to offer new contract offers to Joe Gomez, Naby Keita and Diogo Jota this summer.
Having completed a few key summer signings, Liverpool have shifted their focus on extending the contracts of their current players.
Following the contract renewal of Mohamed Salah, the Reds have not intensified their efforts to reach agreements with three other squad members.
According to Goal, Gomez is close to signing a new contract at Anfield. Despite his struggles to get game time, Gomez wants to establish himself as a starter in Jurgen Klopp’s lineup.
The 25-year-old featured in only 21 games for the Reds last season. However, Klopp has reportedly ensured him that he is part of his plans for Liverpool’s backline.
The defender still has two years on his current Liverpool contract. However, that has not stopped Newcastle and Aston Villa from pushing to sign him this summer.
Liverpool are planning to tie Gomez down to a new contract that would keep him at Anfield until 2026.
The club are also negotiating with Jota to award him a new deal two years after his transfer from Wolves. Liverpool are reportedly planning to give the Portuguese star a significant pay rise. Following the departure of Sadio Mane, Jota is planning to continue his key role in Liverpool’s new attacking line.
Naby Keita is also in line to get a new Liverpool deal this summer. The Guinea midfielder enters the final year of his contract, with the Reds being determined to avoid a free exit next summer.
