The Super Eagles star might leave Club Brugge ahead of the next season.
Lazio are reportedly eyeing a move for David Okereke in the current transfer window.
Ciro Immobile retained his talismanic presence in Lazio’s attacking line last season, scoring 27 goals in 31 Serie A appearances.
However, Lazio manager Mauricio Sarri has decided to sign a backup option for the Italian forward.
According to Nigerian sources, the former Chelsea boss hopes to bring Okereke to Rome ahead of the next season.
Okereke spent the last season on loan at Venezia, but he might have a chance to continue his career in Serie A. The Club Brugge striker made 32 appearances for Venezia last season, scoring seven goals and providing an assist.
The 24-year-old is still a year away from the expiration of his current Club Brugge deal. However, he has already made it clear he doesn’t want to return to the Belgian side.
“I had my plans for the season but I couldn’t achieve it,” Okereke admitted.
“It wasn’t that bad, wasn’t what I expected but I’m still happy with how it ended.
The striker added: “I’m not returning to Club Brugge. I was supposed to have resumed training with them but I received a mail saying there’s no need since I’m under negotiation with other teams, so I’ll take my time.”
