The Red Devils fans are angered by the club’s performance in the transfer market.
A group of Manchester United fans have announced plans for an anti-Glazers protest ahead of Erik ten Hag’s first home match in charge of the Red Devils.
Criticism toward the Glazers family, who are the club’s majority shareholders, has increased over the past two seasons. The club further angered the fans when they paid out an £11m dividend to their shareholders.
The money will mostly go to the Glazers themselves, adding up to their £8m revenue from last year’s £10.7m dividends. The news came after the Red Devils confirmed their debts had risen to £500m.
Fans also criticize the club’s activity in the transfer market. Having promised a squad overhaul this summer, United are yet to make their first signing under Erik ten Hag.
According to MEN, a group of United fans are planning a demonstration ahead of Ten Hag’s first home game next month.
Ten Hag will make his Old Trafford debut in a friendly match against Rayo Vallecano on July 31. The club has already urged fans to support the new manager instead of expressing their frustration toward the Glazers’ ownership.
“Football is a game of passion and we fully respect the fans’ right to make their feelings known. As long as this remains legal and peaceful at all times,” Arnold said.
“I would very much hope that all fans within Old Trafford approach next season with renewed optimism and confidence as we look forward to a fresh start under Erik ten Hag.
“We have the best fans in the world. When Old Trafford is at its loudest, we have a significant advantage against our opponents. I hope this unrivalled passion will be used to support the team and the new manager as we start this exciting new chapter together.”
