The Blues have stepped up their efforts to add a new winger to their ranks ahead of the next season.
Chelsea are reportedly planning to place an official bid for Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling.
The England international is spending the final year of his contract at Emirates. However, he might end his City spell before the upcoming season.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are planning a move for Sterling and are ‘confident’ they can sign him this summer.
English outlets previously claimed the Blues want to pay an approximate £35 million fee for Sterling. However, Sky Sports insist City want around £60 million for the English winger.
Thomas Tuchel is reportedly a big fan of Sterling, preparing his side for the possible departure of Romelu Lukaku. A move to Stamford Bridge would also provide more game time for Sterling, who lost his starting place in Pep Guardiola’s lineup last season.
Chelsea have spent a relatively quiet transfer window up to this point. However, a potential move for Sterling could become a significant sign of the new owners’ intention to reinforce the team ahead of the next season.
The Blues finished third in the Premier League last season, struggling for attacking consistency throughout the campaign. A potential move for Sterling would add him to the likes of Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic, and Hakim Ziyech, who are all unhappy with their minutes under Tuchel.
