The Senegalese star is heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool.
Sadio Mane has backtracked on his recent comments about a potential transfer away from Liverpool.
A recent poll in Senegal revealed that 60-70% of the voters prefer to see Mane change his club. On Friday, the Senegalese forward admitted he would leave Anfield when a reporter informed him about the poll.
“Isn’t it between 60 to 70 per cent of Senegalese want me to leave Liverpool? I will do what they want. We will see soon,” he said.
However, Mane has now clarified his comments, expressing his admiration for the Merseyside club.
“I spoke while joking with a bit of humour and it was everywhere. I think we’ll stop there,” he told Canal Plus.
“Liverpool is a club I respect a lot. The fans adopted me since day one. Regarding the future, we’ll see.”
Mane has recently been nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award due to his brilliant performances for the Reds last season.
His form has attracted interest from Bayern Munich, who are currently the frontrunners to sign him this summer. However, according to The Athletic, the race is still open, and other clubs might join the Bavarians in the competition to sign the 30-year-old.
